Taking home the festival’s highest honor, Ben Affleck attended the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Friday (January 25).
The “Argo” director and star mingled with press outside in a black tux, yellow tie, and plenty of facial scruff before heading in to receive his award.
According to organizers, the Modern Master Award, established in 1995, was created to honor an individual who has enriched our culture through accomplishments in the motion picture industry. The 40-year-old actor joins a list of past recipients including Christopher Plummer, Christopher Nolan, James Cameron, Clint Eastwood, Cate Blanchett, Will Smith, George Clooney, and Peter Jackson.
Held on the scenic California coastline, the festival considers itself the preeminent Oscar film festival, with a knack for predicting Academy Award winners.
